Chubco Oven Lubrication Guide
Tray Bushings:
Chubco experimented with several types of lubrication and found the optimum bushing life is obtained by using Hi-Temp Moly Grease. Molybdenum disulfide provides lubrication long after the grease carrier has dripped off or burned away.
For tray & stabilizer arm bushings apply 1 - 2 pumps (from ordinary grease gun) on each bushing every 40-60 hours of operation. With few exceptions, the special Grease Tip is best for proper grease insertion into the bushing. The available 12" extension is not necessary, but is more convenient for lube-point access.
Main Bearing:
The main bearing should be lubed monthly with as much Moly Grease as it will accept (usually less than one pump); do NOT overgrease. Overgreasing will destroy the bearing seals, which can greatly reduce main bearing life.
Door Gear Box:
(Applies to Model H & Super, only - check monthly) Find the 3/8 flathead screw at about the center of the hearthplate; locate the obvious mark on the screw that indicates proper oil level (acts as a dipstick). Add Hi-Temp Oven Oil to the proper level.
Drive Gear Box:
Locate the level-plug about 1 - 1½“ from the bottom of the gear box. Remove the plug; a small weep of oil should be visible. If not, remove the vent plug (on gear box top), add Hi-Temp Oven Oil as needed until oil begins to weep from level-plug. Re-install plug(s). Check at 6 month intervals.
Regular lubrication will greatly prolong the oven life and time
between major repairs.
